A finalist for the position of executive director of University Communications at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder is scheduled for campus interviews on Monday, Nov. 18, according to Ric Porreca, chair of the committee and senior vice chancellor and chief financial officer. The candidate, Patrick Strickler, is currently the director of communications at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has more than 25 years of responsibility in public relations, public affairs management and journalism and Web and marketing services.

A house fire started by an unattended candle nearly killed a Boulder resident last week, and safety officials fear that ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder students could make the same deadly mistake. The increasing popularity of decorative candles in homes and apartments is raising the chances that one of them will cause a loss of life, said Sherry Kenyon, safety coordinator for Boulder Fire Rescue. "CU students are vulnerable to fire," Kenyon said. "In every candle fire we've seen, the student had left the room - and even the house - with the candle still burning.

Doctoral Fellowships In Media, Religion, Culture, Available At CU-Boulder School Of Journalism And Mass Communication

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder is now accepting applications for a new dissertation fellowship program provided by the Lilly Endowment Inc. The one-year fellowship grants of $12,000 each are available to doctoral candidates nationwide who are engaged in research projects involving media, religion and culture. The grants are designed to coincide with the year of dissertation proposal writing, or the first year after the approval of the dissertation proposal.

CU-Boulder And CIRES Host International Year Of The Mountain Conference

Leonid Meteors To Provide A Show For Colorado Skies In November

When the Leonid meteor shower peaks at about 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, Colorado skywatchers may be in for a great show, according to Doug Duncan of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder's Fiske Planetarium. The Leonid meteors are part of the debris trail from the comet Tempel-Tuttle in its 33-year orbit around the sun. Each November the Earth passes through this patchy stream of space dust and sand that makes up the debris trail.

Ceremony, Plaque To Honor CU-Boulder's WWII Navy Language School Participants
