CU-Boulder Commencement Parking Made Easy With Early Arrival

Because an estimated 10,000 people are expected to attend commencement exercises at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder Dec. 21, those attending should plan to arrive early. Commencement begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Coors Events/Conference Center. The majority of parking for the commencement ceremony will be in the Regent Drive Autopark, just south of Colorado Avenue. Free parking for guests also will be available in other lots near the Coors Events/Conference Center and at campus meters.

Two CU Professors Win Colorado Book Awards

Two ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder professors were named winners of this year's Colorado Book Awards. "Messages from Frank's Landing" by law Distinguished Professor Charles Wilkinson and "Crucible of War" by history Professor Fred Anderson took the awards for the "Colorado and the West" and "History and Biography" categories, respectively. A third book, "Riverwalk," written by William Wylie and published by University Press of Colorado, was the winner in the pictorial category. CU-Boulder is one of the member organizations of the University Press of Colorado.

CU-Boulder Alumnus Peter Teets Confirmed To Under Secretary Post

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder alumnus Peter B. Teets has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the post of Under Secretary of the Air Force, the second highest position in that branch of the military. Teets, 59, is a native of Denver and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in applied math, a program of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at CU-Boulder, in 1963 and 1965, respectively.

Continued Colorado Economic Growth Expected in 2002, CU-Boulder Forecast Says

CU-Boulder Files In District Court Challenging Boulder County's South Campus Regulation

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder on Dec. 13 filed a request for a declaratory judgment in Boulder County District Court, asking the court to declare that Boulder County commissioners exceeded their authority when they voted the county new power to regulate development of the CU-Boulder South campus. The university filed the request following Boulder County's November vote to change the county's land use code. University officials opposed the passage of the new regulations in public sessions before Boulder County commissioners on two occasions.

Trammell Crow Residential Selected By CU-Boulder To Develop Williams Village Student Housing Expansion Project

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Board of Regents has authorized the campus to enter into negotiations with Trammell Crow Residential, a Denver-based, diversified commercial real estate services firm, for the development of a new student apartment-style residential complex at Williams Village. The Board of Regents also approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Boulder on the development of the project at its Dec. 13 meeting. The Boulder City Council approved the agreement last month.

CU-Boulder Wins $500,000 Grant To Develop Elementary Engineering Curriculum

The Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder has won a three-year, $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to develop a hands-on, pre-engineering curriculum for students in grades three through five. The grant from the highly competitive Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education was awarded to engineering faculty member Janet deGrazia, who is the director of outreach for the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory in the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

CU-Boulder Leeds School Of Business Appoints New Center For Business Education Director
