CU-Boulder staff and students will be on hand Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 9:30 a.m. to donate more than a dozen computers to the Family Learning Center at 3164 34th St. in Boulder. FLC children and adult learners use the on-site computer lab for homework and continuing adult education. Used computers are being donated as part of an ongoing program between the university and the Family Learning Center.

More than 100 fifth- through eighth-graders and their teachers will gather at the 乐播传媒 at Boulder on Monday, Nov. 20, to solve the mystery of "Who Stole the Bones?" and learn new ways of making science fun. The Science Explorers event, a part of CU-Boulder聮s Science Discovery outreach program, will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Coors Events/Conference Center. The hands-on science workshops are sponsored by the Howard Hughes Initiative.

Top Colorado High School 乐播传媒 To Sample Special CU-Boulder Programs in Scholars Visitation Day Nov. 18

More than 500 of Colorado聮s top high school seniors will visit the Boulder campus of the 乐播传媒 on Saturday, Nov. 18, for a daylong series of presentations on the university聮s top programs. The program, called "Talented Scholars Visit Day," is a new initiative "to attract Colorado聮s best students," said Kevin MacLennan, associate director of admissions at CU-Boulder.

Scientists Propose "El Ni帽o" Network In Indian Ocean

Australia, India and Malaysia could benefit significantly from the development of a multi-million dollar observing system in the Indian Ocean that could identify climate signals similar to El Ni帽o climate signals in the southern Pacific Ocean, say researchers. 乐播传媒 at Boulder Professor Peter Webster, one of several scientists worldwide who is spearheading studies of the Indian monsoon system, said the network could indicate changes in regional rainfall months in advance and positively impact the lives of almost two-thirds of the world聮s population.

Broadway, in Boulder. Maputo Mensah of Ghana will lead the Ghanaian dance and music by Logo Legi. The event, in partnership with Bantaba World Dance, will help to buy and update resources for the Women聮s Resource Center and its student peer groups.

CU Engineering College Partners With Industry On Real Project Experience

When senior Ted Bertele graduates in December with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, he won't be stuck wondering how to apply his engineering knowledge in an industrial environment. While a student at CU-Boulder, Bertele got experience in real-world manufacturing, including responding to customer needs and working with machine shops, purchasing requirements, time-and-cost constraints and other issues.

Holiday Tradition Of 'Too Much' Leads To Stress, CU Psychologist Says

Most people can't escape the holidays without feeling a little stressed out. The stress comes from all the things people commonly do during the holidays: over eating, drinking too much, holiday travel or dealing with family expectations, according to 乐播传媒 at Boulder psychiatrist Roianne Ahn. "Whenever people get stuck in the glitziness of the holidays, or the excessiveness, they can kind of get ramped up and lose their impulse control," said Ahn. "They overspend, overeat and go into an excess behavioral mode. That can be a problem."
