CU-Boulder Names Barbara Schneider To Be New Executive Director Of Enrollment Management Services

Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Phil DiStefano has selected Barbara Schneider as the new executive director of enrollment management services and admissions at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder. The appointment will be considered at the Dec. 9 Board of Regents' meeting in Boulder and will be effective upon approval.

Expert On Communications Standards To Speak At CU-Boulder

Ken Krechmer, an internationally recognized authority on standards and founder of Communications Standards Review, will present a series of public lectures at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder beginning Tuesday, Nov. 16. The series is designed to help build a broad understanding of how technical standards are developed, a topic that has sparked widespread interest in recent years due to rapid developments in information and communication technology. Krechmer is expected to address the standards aspects of the U.S. government's antitrust suit against Microsoft.

Former Congressman Skaggs Opens Friends Of CU Libraries Series

Former Colorado congressman David Skaggs will open the Friends of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Libraries' Treasures series with a lecture on Monday, Nov. 15, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Old Main Chapel on the Boulder campus. A reception at the CU Heritage Center will follow the free event, which is open to the public. The Heritage Center is on the third floor of Old Main. Skaggs will speak on "Journalism and Democracy in the 21st Century: Can Politicians and Journalists be Adults Together?" A question-and-answer session will follow.

Science Scholar Award Luncheon To Be Held At CU-Boulder Nov. 12

The Achievement Rewards for College Scientists, or ARCS Foundation, Inc., Denver Chapter, is holding its annual scholar luncheon at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder on Friday, Nov. 12, at 11:30 a.m., in the University Club. At the luncheon, the foundation will give $105,000 to 21 science students from the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder and other Colorado schools. The ARCS awards go to students who demonstrate strong character, excellence in their work and financial need.
