乐播传媒 Boulder astrophysicist Doug Duncan says this year's annual Perseid meteor shower and its natural nighttime light show will be particularly good as the display becomes visible over Colorado Aug. 10-13. "The moon will be nearly new, so it's an especially good time to see the meteor shower," said Duncan, director of CU-Boulder's Fiske Planetarium.

The 50th annual meeting of the international Animal Behavior Society to be held at the 乐播传媒 Boulder July 28-Aug. 2 will feature several public events, including lectures, scientific demonstrations and a film festival. The public lectures, to be held at the Glenn Miller Ballroom in the University Memorial Center, are part of the Applied Animal Behavior Public Day on Sunday, July 28, titled 鈥淐reating Quality Lives for Dogs and Cats Through the Science of Animal Behavior.鈥�

As the school year wraps up, students at Summit Charter Middle School in Boulder will debrief on how their $25,000 stock portfolio performed. The middle school students invested money under supervision as part of a course created and taught by accounting and finance students from the 乐播传媒 Boulder鈥檚 Leeds School of Business .

Google Inc. and the 乐播传媒 Boulder computer science department are partnering to inspire high school and middle school teachers looking for motivating, engaging and fun ways to prepare students for college and career success during an activities-packed workshop July 10-12.

NASA is inviting members of the public to submit their names and a personal message online for a DVD to be carried aboard a spacecraft that will study the Martian upper atmosphere. Scheduled for launch in November, the DVD will be in NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) spacecraft. The DVD is part of the mission's Going to Mars Campaign coordinated at the 乐播传媒 Boulder's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics.

Engineering students at the 乐播传媒 Boulder are gearing up for several days of intensive activity next week, when they will celebrate Engineering Days and display their hands-on design projects at the annual spring Engineering Design Expo. Engineering Days, or E-Days, is an annual celebration of the engineering profession organized by the 乐播传媒 Engineering Council, or UCEC, and student honor societies. Activities include a water rocket launch, high school and college egg drops, a carnival and other fun activities for students.
