Robotics

CU Engineering Building

The robotic domain is a vast, interdisciplinary domain that spans across a variety of fields including artificial intelligence, mechatronics, and computer vision. Within this domain, control theory plays a crucial role in interfacing different aspects such as sensing, actuation, and decision making into one cohesive framework.

Constrained Control for Safe Human-Robot Interaction

Robotic hand reaching out to a human
In preparation for modern assembly lines where humans will work side-by-side with robots, it is imperative to account for the presence of human collaborators within the reachable space of the robotic arm. To avoid collisions, this project investigates coordination strategies between the high-level guidance layer, which interprets the human's intentions, and the low-level control layer, which rules the dynamic behavior of the robotic arm.
