Responsible Conduct of Research

As the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Coordinator for the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Boulder, Dr. Mary Allen manages CU Boulder's requirement to train NIH and NSF students and postdocs in RCR. Furthermore, Dr. Allen teaches a yearly RCR course.

Responsible research is built on responsible people, data and policies.

I believe most people will travel through an ethical swamp in their careers. Due to my background, I wish to teach graduate students and postdocs how to best survive those ethical swamps. Long ago, I was a student in a lab in which the PI committed misconduct.

I have extensive training in data integrity and quality data collection and analysis. Quality data collection is often an overlooked aspect of big data. Understanding the metrics of what makes a data set a good data set is the key to big data training. Training in how to keep a clean data set is also crucial to efficient data analysis.
