The Research & Innovation Office is excited to present the “Rising Early-Career Faculty Webinar Series,” providing faculty with the knowledge, resources and skills needed to secure prestigious federal awards. Through expert guidance, proposal support and workshops focused on specific career opportunities, the goal is to advance early-career faculty work and build a foundation for a fruitful academic career.

Past webinar recordings

The first program to be featured is the DARPA Young Faculty Award, which is expected to have a late November 2023 deadline for executive summaries. Alaa Ahmed, a previous DARPA Young Faculty Award recipient, will share tips for success and be joined by Amber Cassady of Lewis-Burke, a government relations firm in DC who provides support to CU Boulder. Amber manages the firm’s national securityportfolio.

The second program to be featured is the Department of Energy (DOE) Early-Career Award, which has an anticipated deadline of early January 2024 for the mandatory pre-application. Julia Moriarty, a previous DOE Early-Career Award recipient, will share tips for success and be joined by Griffin Reinecke of Lewis-Burke Associates, a government relations firm in DC who provides support to CU Boulder. Griffin is an expert in space, energy, and transportation issues.

The third funder to be featured is NASA, which offers a variety of early-career awards including two with imminent deadlines (see below).

The panel will consist of Dr. Robyn MacDonald, a recipient, Dr. Mike Chaffin, a 2020 NASA Planetary Science Early Career Award recipient, and Dr. Masha Kazachenko, a , all of whom will share about their successful experiences and answer questions. They will be joined by Griffin Reinecke of Lewis-Burke Associates, a government relations firm in DC who provides support to CU Boulder. Griffin is an expert in space, energy and transportation issues.

The supports innovative, early-stage investigators within 10 years of completing their terminal research degree or end of post-graduate clinical training. Aaron Whiteley, CU Boulder’s most recent recipient, will share insights for success and be joined by Lewis-Burke Associates, a government relations firm in DC who provides support to CU Boulder. The deadline is August 19, 2024.
