'Physics Of Music' And 'Making The Invisible Visible' Topics Of CU Shows On April 17

The physics of music and the tools used by nuclear and particle physicists to make the invisible visible will be highlights of two separate April 17 presentations at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder. The CU Wizards show "The Physics of Music" will take place at 9:30 a.m. in Duane Physics room G1B30. At 2 p.m. in Duane Physics room G1B30, the CU-Boulder physics department will present "Making the Invisible Visible" as part of its Saturday Physics Series. Both shows are free and open to the public.

Bruce Babbitt, Former Interior Secretary, To Speak At CU-Boulder April 20

Bruce Babbitt, the former Arizona governor who served as secretary of the interior for eight years under President Clinton, will speak at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder on April 20. Babbitt will speak at 7 p.m. in the University Memorial Center's Glenn Miller Ballroom, in a conversation with CU-Boulder history and environmental studies Professor Patricia Nelson Limerick and Distinguished Professor of law Charles Wilkinson. The talk is free and open to the public.

CU-Boulder Leeds School Of Business Ranked No. 15 For Entrepreneurship In U.S. News & World Report Ranking

The Entrepreneurship Program at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder's Leeds School of Business has been ranked 15th in the nation by U.S. News and World Report in its 2005 Best Graduate Schools edition, up from 17th in the 2004 ranking. This year's ranking marks the fifth consecutive year the program has been ranked among the top 20 programs nationally.

'Schindler's List' Survivor To Speak At CU's Holocaust Awareness Week, April 18-23

A "Schindler's List" Holocaust survivor and a documentary filmmaker will be keynote speakers at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder's 20th Annual Holocaust Awareness Week, April 18-23. Survivor Zev Kedem will talk about his fight for life on April 21 at 6 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom of the University Memorial Center. Joshua Greene, director and producer of the PBS documentary "Witness: Voices From the Holocaust," will appear April 22 at 6 p.m. in UMC room 235.

Twelve ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder faculty and staff members received 2004 Marinus G. Smith Recognition Awards from the CU Parents Association. The award recognizes CU-Boulder faculty, instructors and staff who have made a significant impact on the lives of one or more CU-Boulder undergraduates. ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ were asked to nominate candidates who were deserving of this recognition.

Memorial Service Tuesday, April 6, For Mary Fran Myers, Co-Director Of CU's Natural Hazards Center

A memorial service for Mary Fran Myers, co-director of the Natural Hazards Research and Applications Information Center at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder, will be held Tuesday, April 6, at 1 p.m. at the Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place in Boulder. Myers died on April 1 after a long battle with cancer. She was 52.

UMC At CU-Boulder Hosts ACUI Pocket Billiard Championships On April 16-17

The nation's top 34 college billiards players will meet at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder April 16-17 to participate in the Association of College Unions International Pocket Billiard Championships. The games are being hosted by the University Memorial Center and located in the Connection at the UMC, room 105. The competition begins Friday, April 16, at 9 a.m. and runs to 7 p.m. with finals on Saturday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The games are free and open to the public. A private awards banquet will complete the program.

CU-Boulder Vice Chancellor Announces Resignation

Carol Lynch, vice chancellor for research and dean of the Graduate School at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder, today announced her resignation after 12 years in administration at CU-Boulder. Effective Aug. 1, Lynch plans to return to the faculty on a part-time basis and serve as a faculty associate in Academic Affairs. She also will consult with national groups on issues of graduate education and research policy.
