CU-Boulder Class's Final Exam To Take Form Of Public Art Exhibits

Editors: Photographers are welcome to take "work in progress" shots of the exhibits during the week of April 28-May 2. Final exams are looming for students as the end of the semester approaches at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder. But for one art class in the Kittredge Honors Program, the final exam means creating a public art exhibit.

CU-Boulder Student Awarded Goldwater Foundation Scholarship

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder student Corry L. Lee has been named a 2003 Goldwater Scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. The Goldwater scholarship is a prestigious national competition for undergraduates in the fields of mathematics, science and engineering. The scholarship funds up to $7,500 per year for approximately 300 sophomores and juniors from across the country to complete their undergraduate degrees.

CU's ITLL Design Expo To Showcase Engineering Student Inventions

Peace Camp Inhabitants Vacate Space At CU-Boulder

About two dozen tents were removed from Norlin Quadrangle at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder early today by inhabitants of the "Peace Camp/Shanty Town Project." The tents had been erected more than a week ago, in violation of campus policies on the use of university facilities.

CU Historian Patricia Limerick To Give Public Lecture May 7 On 'The Rise Of Regret In The West'

Renowned historian Patricia Nelson Limerick of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder will give a public lecture May 7 titled "The Rise of Regret in the American West: How to Tell Meaningful Action from Pointless Wallowing." The talk is part of the Chancellor's Community Lecture Series and will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Chautauqua Community House at 900 Baseline Road in Boulder. The talk is free and open to the public and reservations are not required. Seating is limited.

CU Selected To Build $2.5 Million Worth Of Electronics For Satellites To Analyze Earth Space Storms

Two ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder faculty members have been selected to design and build $2.5 million worth of electronics for a fleet of five satellites to study violent magnetic activity around Earth that triggers auroral storms at the poles.

CU-Boulder Law Professor Receives Calhoun Public Service Award

The CU-Boulder School of Law will present law Professor William Pizzi with the Clifford Calhoun Public Service Award on April 25 in recognition of his contributions to the law school and the legal community. The award is given to those who "contribute to the public service of the law school in the spirit and tradition of the contributions Professor Calhoun made in his career." An anonymous donor established the award in 1998 in honor of Calhoun, who retired that year.

CU-Boulder Entrepreneurship Program Ranked Among Top 20 In Two National Rankings

The CU-Boulder entrepreneurship program was ranked 10th in the nation by faculty from around the country and 14th overall, according to Entrepreneur magazine's April 2003 edition. This was the magazine's first ranking of the 100 top entrepreneurship programs. More than 700 entrepreneurship programs nationwide were evaluated for the study. The rankings were based on more than 30 criteria, including course offerings, faculty, business-community outreach, research centers and institutes, advisory boards, off-campus programs and degrees offered.

'Operation Media Freedom' To Be Held At CU-Boulder April 21-25

Media studies students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder are staging a weeklong campaign titled "Operation Media Freedom" April 21-25 on the Boulder campus. According to organizers, the events are designed to inform and educate CU students and the Boulder community of the impacts of mainstream media on popular culture and coincide with National Turnoff Your TV Week.

Iraq War Coverage Is Topic Of CU-Boulder Media Panel April 24

"Em Bed With the Military: The Media at War" is the subject of a panel discussion at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder on April 24 at 7 p.m. in Engineering Center room 245. Scheduled panelists are Charlie Brennan, Rocky Mountain News reporter and embedded journalist who recently returned from Iraq; Vicky Sama, former CNN producer; Michael Tracey, former head of the Broadcasting Research Unit at the BBC in London and faculty member at CU-Boulder's School of Journalism and Mass Communication; and Juliet Wittman, a reporter for Westword.
