CU-Boulder Researchers Receive Grant To Study Noxious Weed

Researchers at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder have received a $280,000 grant to help unlock the mystery of how diffuse knapweed, a noxious weed that has infested more than 80,000 acres along the Front Range and 3.2 million acres in the West, has become dominant in the prairies around Boulder.

Delbert Elliott, professor of sociology and director of the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder, appeared before the Governor's Columbine Review Commission on two occasions to address issues including bullying and youth violence.

Bullying: A Growing Concern

Requests for information about how to address bullying in schools is becoming increasingly common at the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder. Professor Delbert Elliott, the center's director, said bullying was one of two common concerns he heard last year during an extensive statewide tour of schools he made with Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar. The other major issue was drug use.
