After navigating their final year of law school amid a pandemic and a social justice movement, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School graduates celebrated their landmark accomplishments in a virtual ceremony on May 8. Keynote speaker Stacey Abrams charged the graduates with three calls to action: have ambition, embrace fear, and prepare for failure as they prepare for life after graduation.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Boulder Provost Russell Moore today named Lolita Buckner Inniss dean of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School, effective July 1, 2021. Inniss will become Colorado Law’s first African American dean and second female to lead the school.

As part of its work to address the need for anti-racism and intersectionality within the law school and the legal profession, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School’s Anti-Racism and Intersectionality Caucus has released its first newsletter to the law school community.

Akhil Reed Amar, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University, will deliver the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School’s 63rd annual John R. Coen Lecture on April 22, 2021. The title of the lecture, which will be held virtually, is "America's First Peaceful (Just Barely!) Transfer of Power."

Scholars and legal practitioners from across the country gathered virtually on April 9, 2021, for the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School’s 29th annual Ira C. Rothgerber Jr. Conference. An educational toolkit drafted by students and attorneys at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School, Native American Rights Fund (NARF), and UCLA Law School seeks to help American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians use the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in their own laws and programs.

The Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School hosted an online conference on March 12 exploring how surveillance regimes have engendered disproportionate harm to underrepresented groups based on racial, sexual, immigration, religious, and gender biases. The conference highlighted themes from Associate Professor Scott Skinner-Thompson's recent book by the same name.

Two new Dean’s Choice Awards established by the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School’s Law Alumni Board—the Brooke Wunnicke Outstanding Mentor Award and the Sonny Flowers Award—will recognize alumni for their mentorship of other attorneys and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School will celebrate eight alumni and friends at its 40th annual awards celebration on Thursday, June 17, 2021. The ceremony will be held virtually.

The campus and broader community are invited to participate in four open forums with the finalists for the dean of Colorado Law position on Feb. 3, Feb. 9, Feb. 11, and Feb. 16. The four finalists will also each meet in sessions with Colorado Law students; faculty; staff; advancement personnel; student leaders; assistant and associate deans; the provost; the dean; and the search committee.
