Douglas Spencer, an election law scholar whose research addresses the role of prejudice and racial attitudes in voting rights litigation, has joined the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School’s Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law as a distinguished faculty fellow for the 2020-21 academic year.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School’s Class of 2023 includes six recipients of the prestigious Leaders in Law and Community Fellowship, which offers three years of tuition, mentoring, and leadership opportunities to a select group of incoming students. Meet five of this year's LILAC fellows.

The Korey Wise Innocence Project at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School has been awarded a grant from the Fred & Jean Allegretti Foundation to better serve the growing number of volunteer law students and community members who investigate cases of possible wrongful conviction in Colorado. The grant will finance a full renovation of the project's new office space on the law school's second floor.

The Byron R. White Center for the Study of American Constitutional Law at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School will host a virtual speaker series this fall exploring topics including police reform, citizenship, protest lawyering, voting rights, racial justice, and critical race theory.

The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School welcomed its newest class of 185 JD, 10 Master of Laws (LLM), and 11 new Master of Studies in Law (MSL) students as classes began both in-person and virtually on Aug. 24. The entering class sets a new record for racial and ethnic diversity, with 36% of incoming JD students identifying as people of color.

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School Professor and Director of Clinical Programs Deborah Cantrell is a recipient of Boulder County Public Health’s 2020 Healthy Community Award for her work supporting mobile homeowners in Colorado.

The Hon. Stephen F. Williams, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit who served for nearly two decades on the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School faculty, died Aug. 7 due to complications from the coronavirus. Williams was a member of the Colorado Law faculty from 1969 until 1986, when President Ronald Reagan appointed him to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

The deans at six law schools across the nation have forged a unique partnership to launch an innovative digital discussion series to engage prospective students and encourage a robust conversation about legal education.

In Pursuing Citizenship in the Enforcement Era, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School Associate Professor Ming Hsu Chen shares the everyday perspectives of immigrants on what it is like to try to integrate into American society during a time when immigration policy is focused on enforcement and exclusion.

Provost Russell L. Moore announced today that S. James Anaya will not seek a second term as dean of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Law School and will continue as a member of the faculty when his five-year term ends on June 30, 2021. A search process for a new dean will be announced during the fall semester with the goal of having a new dean identified by May 2021.
