A public lecture on "America At War: What Happens Next?" will be presented by Professor Roland Paris of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19. The lecture will cover the impact of the Iraq crisis on America's relations with the rest of the world. It will be free and will be held in room 142 of the Cristol Chemistry and Biochemistry Building on the CU-Boulder campus.

Budding Primatologist Among Dean's List Honorees At CU-Boulder

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder student Julia Massey, one of the top students on the fall 2002 dean's list for the College of Arts and Sciences, is following her dream of becoming a primatologist, a dream inspired by an article she read on Jane Goodall when she was in seventh grade. Massey, who currently holds a 3.78 grade-point average, has been on the dean's list every semester since she started attending CU-Boulder in 2001. Originally from Catonsville, Md., Massey chose CU-Boulder to accomplish the first step in pursuing her career goals.

Global Glacier Recession Workshop At CU-Boulder March 16 To March 18

Denver-Boulder area media are invited to a workshop sponsored by the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder examining global glacier shrinkage. The workshop, which began March 16, is at the Boulder Inn Best Western at 770 28th St. The event, which runs through March 18, is not open to the public.

Colorado Court Of Appeals To Hear Arguments And Answer Questions At CU-Boulder Law School

The Colorado Court of Appeals will hear arguments in the Lindsley Memorial Courtroom at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder School of Law on Tuesday, March 18, from 2:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Lawyers and students are encouraged to attend the event because the presiding judges will take questions from the audience after oral arguments.

CU-Boulder ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Work During Spring Break

CU-Boulder student Ryan Van Duzer will travel to the Dominican Republic to spend his spring break living and working in an orphanage. Van Duzer is traveling with 35 people from a group called Orphanage Outreach based in Scottsdale, Ariz., and will spend March 22-29 in Esperanza, Dominican Republic.

Scripps Expert To Speak At CU-Boulder March 14 On Asian Air Pollution

Scripps Institution of Oceanography Professor V. "Ram" Ramanathan will speak at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder March 14 on the "Asian Brown Cloud," including the impacts of air pollution on health and climate in the region. Sponsored by CU-Boulder's Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, or CIRES, the event is free and open to the public. It will be held Friday at 4 p.m. in the CIRES auditorium and a reception will follow at 5 p.m.

Prominent Avant-Garde Filmmaker And CU-Boulder Professor Stan Brakhage Dies At 70

Stan Brakhage, prominent avant-garde filmmaker and distinguished professor at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder, died Sunday at the age of 70. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, in room 141 of the Fine Arts building on the CU-Boulder campus. "I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of Stan Brakhage, a brilliant filmmaker and distinguished professor of film studies," said CU-Boulder Chancellor Richard Byyny. "Stan's contributions to the field of film production cannot be measured. We extend our sympathy to his family and friends."

CU-Boulder Business Program For Non-Business Majors Now Accepting Applications

The CU Business Intensive Certificate program is currently accepting applications from non-business majors. CUBIC is designed for juniors, seniors or graduate students at any accredited college or university. It provides an overview of business skills including accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, personal finance and computing skills. The program will be held at the CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business from May 12 to May 30. Applications must be received by April 16.
