CU-Boulder To Maintain Scheduled Spring Break Dates

Spring break at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder will continue according to schedule in 2004 and 2005, as recommended by the CU-Boulder Council of Deans. This year's spring break for campus students and faculty will occur March 24-28 on a schedule set five years in advance.

CU-Boulder Gears Up For 2003 Summer Session With Faculty From Around The World

Faculty from around the world will be on the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder campus this summer for the Faculty-in-Residence Summer Term, or FIRST program. Offered for the first time last year, FIRST brings world-class faculty to the Boulder campus to teach and to forge relationships with their respective departments. Registration for summer session begins March 5.

CU-Boulder And CIRES Host Saturday Regional Ocean Sciences Bowl

Twenty-three student teams from 13 Colorado and Wyoming high schools will gather at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder Saturday, March 1, to compete in the fifth regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl.

Sports Illustrated Writer Rick Reilly To Speak At CU-Boulder On March 11

Rick Reilly, the well-known Sports Illustrated writer and author, will give a public talk at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder on Tuesday, March 11. Reilly, who will be on campus as a guest of the World Affairs Athenaeum, will speak at 3 p.m. in the University Memorial Center Glenn Miller Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public. A CU-Boulder alumnus, Reilly has been a writer at Sports Illustrated since 1985. He started his writing career working for the Daily Camera, Denver Post and Los Angeles Times, before moving on to Sports Illustrated.

CU-Boulder Conservation Campaign Announces Water, Energy Savings

A water conservation program at the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder will result in savings of 66 million gallons of treated water when all parts of the plan are implemented this year. The annual water conservation includes 8.75 million gallons of treated water saved at Folsom Field and other athletic fields, 36 million gallons from three building conservation projects and 21 million gallons at the campus ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, said Robin Newsome-Suitts, chair of the Campus Resource Conservation Committee.

Groundbreaking Nicotine Research Nets Award For CU-Boulder Professor

An award for groundbreaking research on the neurochemical effects of nicotine was given Feb. 20th to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ at Boulder Professor Allan Collins by the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco. Collins, a professor of psychology and a faculty fellow in the Institute for Behavioral Genetics at CU-Boulder, won the Langley Award for Basic Science in Nicotine Pharmacology as a result of a number of important nicotine addiction discoveries made in his lab.
